Boys Only

But at the same time, many of these posters do not have representations of women in them at all, or they reduce them to virtual extinction and instead focus exclusively on male bodies interacting. The posters then seem to convey an almost opposite message: not the promise of sex (and heterosexuality), but the hero’s indifference to her and to it. His focus is elsewhere; he is more interested in the male realms of fighting, sport and adventure - of being with other men. Lacking the presence of the female, these images of the physical intertwining and coupling of male bodies acquires homoerotic overtones.
